חוקרים גילו את המערה התת ימית הארוכה בעולם

מקסיקו ידועה מאוד במערות התת ימיות שלה, בדרך כלל ניתן לקפוץ למערה ולשחות בה. הם מוקד משיכה גדול מאוד בכל המדינה לתיירים ומקומיים כאחד.

עכשיו המדינה הרוויחה עוד מקום כזה אחרי גילויה של המערה הארוכה ביותר בעולם – 347 קילומטר, בעיר קינטנה רו.

אבל זה לא הגודל שמשנה פה. במערה החדשה התגלו אוצרות ארכיאולוגיים, בזכות חוקרים שגילו חיבור בין שתי מערות מים גדולות.

העובדה שהמערות התת ימיות סאן אקטון ודוס אויוס מחוברות אומרת שהן יוצרות את המערה הגדולה בעולם.

רוברט שמיטר, מנהל הארגון GAM, ארגון הנמצא במקסיקו סיטי והוא חלק מהמוסד הלאומי למחקר אנתרופולוגיה והיסטוריה- אמר שלקח 14 שנה של מחקר וניתוח כדי למצוא את החיבור בין שתי המערות.

הזמן וההשקעה בהחלט השתלמו. חוקר מטעם הארגון גיארמו דה אנדה קרה לתגלית " התגלית הארכיולוגית התת ימית החשובה ביותר בעולם והיא מהווה בית למאות סודות שמורים"

אנדה הוסיף שהמערה מכילה עדויות להתישבויות האמריקאיות הראשונות שנכחדו מזמן.

המערה הקודמת שהחזיקה בתואר הייתה אוקס בל הא, שנמצאת גם בקינטנה רו וגודלה עומד על 270 קילמוטרים.

בהתחלה, חשבו שהמערכת המרכיבה את המערה הזאת הייתה באותו האורך בערך (270 ק"מ) אבל התגלית של נקודת החיבור של המערות אומר שהיא ארוכה בהרבה.

והיא לא רק ארוכה, היא גם עמוקה מאוד, העומק הממוצע שלה הוא 20 קילומטר! אבל ישנם אזורים פחות עמוקים העומדים בין 2 – 100 מטרים.
